My collages are a gateway into the feeling life of my writing. When I lived in Chicago my studio was in a 10′ x 10′ storage room in the basement of a two-flat. I had some awesome conversations with the Creative in that studio. I still miss it. The smell of must and dirt, a few floods every now and then. Just me and the Creative. I could hide down there for hours and do collage. It was where my indignation, my grief, my remembrance could really come out, in the solace with mother earth. She encouraged me all the way. I opened myself up to a totally honest interior space which fueled my feminist fire. And I can still hear Californification in my head. Me and the Gynergy and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
